Has anyone stayed at the Sandbars in North Truro What did you think of it? My family and I are going to be staying there 10/22 thru 10/29. Recommendations to do while there at that time especially with a 3 1/2 year old and a 20 month old?
By the way I assume the water will be freezing by that time up there?
Please let me know and thank you!

I have stayed there. It%26#39;s very nice and not that cold in October. you%26#39;ll have a great time. Don%26#39;t worry!
Thank que Hilaryq. I will trust your opinion and good judgement!
We did not stay there, but I have seen it and it looks fine. We also visited the Cape last year in October and it was chilly, but not outrageously cold. I just wrote a book called ';It Happened on Cape Cod'; (which you can buy on Amazon after the holidays). I have spent many different seasons exploring the Cape and find Sept-Oct to be the best. The Cape tends to clear out post-labor day. The tourists are gone, but be prepared for many of the seasonal places to be closed or have limited hours by late Oct. Be sure to call places before going. What we noticed this year (just got back) that after a super hot summer, the water remained very warm though the wind was bone chilling at times. Whale watching with the Dolphin Fleet in Provincetown was fantastic and a young family can easily manage it (the boats are stable and there are indoor cabins for viewing). The Whydah Museum on P-Town wharf houses the only known pirate treasure to ever be recovered and the Lobster Pot in P-Town is consistently good for all meals!
I highly recommend taking your family to the Cape Cod (also known as Highland) Light in Truro. You can go up inside (though it might be tough to haul a toddler up the steps) and learn the story of how it was moved 450 feet away from the coast to keep it from falling into the Atlantic. It%26#39;s really pretty scenery. The Cape Cod Museum of National History is open year round and is located in Brewster. They have stuff for kids as well (ccmnh.org) and you really get a sense of how the natural history and nature of the Cape.
Have fun and I hope this helps!
