As a favour.......

For someone else who does not use Tripadvisor, we are looking for a low to mid price hotel as central as funds dictate! Its their first visit to Boston, the dates are for a friday and saturday 21st 22nd November. Over 11 years since I last visited so cannot offer any advice to them, (stayed at 54 Park Plaza I think!) but I%26#39;m sure someone can help! Thanks

Why not direct them to priceline? We will be visiting Boston at the end of October(a more popular time of year than Nov.) and got a centrally located 3 star hotel for $100 per night. I have used priceline numerous times and have never been disappointed - always saved lots of money and have had fine accomodations. In fact, the quality of accomodations I%26#39;ve gotten using priceline has been markedly superior to budget hotels (like Day%26#39;s Inn, Econolodge) I%26#39;ve booked in the past and I%26#39;ve always gotten them for less money! Generally, you can find accomodations in a central city location on priceline for less than what you would pay for a budget chain located in the burbs or on the outskirts of town.

The priceline.com suggestion is a good one.

In doing a quick check here on Tripadvisor, three hotels came up between the $100 - 200 USD level.

The Charlesmark - in the heart of the Back Bay across from Copley Square; Clarion Bulfinch Hotel near North Station and the West End and the Harborside Inn, in the financial district.

They are all within walking distance to a subway stop and are considered to be in the city center. You might also try the John Jeffries House; it%26#39;s a B%26amp;B/ extended stay property at the edge of Beacon Hill. http://www.johnjeffrieshouse.com

The 57 Park Plaza is now a Radisson and that might be worth checking as well. They%26#39;ve gone through an update in the last couple of years and the neighborhood had added a couple of nice restaurants as well.

Hi Scotland,

Two other mid price hotel suggestions are the Tremont House, which is right in the theater district, and across the street from a subway station, and easy walking distance to many of the tourist attractions.

Another good hotel idea is the Clarion Bullfinch hotel, on Merrimac St. in the North Station area. It%26#39;s a brand new hotel, and it%26#39;s gotten terrific ratings on Trip Advisor. It%26#39;s also more reasonable, with prices under $200/night. It%26#39;s very convenient to the North End, Quincy Market, and the whole downtown area.

Priceline is definitely a good idea to try first, though. You will probably do better with priceline if you get a bid accepted. Just do your homework first, so you can see what is available without Priceline, and then you will know how much you should bid for the room.

Thanks to everyone for the replys! Great help on the case now and so far the Bulfinch is in the lead! Let you know the outcome, thanks again

I just drove by that Bulfinch Hotel the other night while in Boston. What a perfect spot for a hotel, it%26#39;s very very nice! That%26#39;s an unbelievablely great spot to be for sightseeing, great restaurants and walking tours. Good luck with the plans.

To those who are familiar with downtown Boston hotels: We would love to go the Priceline route for our family of four, but are afraid of getting a room for 2. Is this concern justified? Thanks!

To ASPIRE2B - Try www.betterbidding.com for advice. After reading the information on the site, then, if neccessary, you can semd them an inquiry by email for additional information.

My husband %26amp; I always travel with our two kids (ages 4 %26amp; 9) and have used priceline successfully about 6 times now, Though it is a risk, we have never had a problem getting a room with two beds. As I said in my earlier post, we will be staying at the Radisson in Boston in a few weeks and do not expect a problem.

The Bulfinch it is! Got a deal on a hotel web site, ok price but it had to be booked quickly.(Oct not Nov)! Not able to use priceline but will keep this in mind for my own hols! Good luck to others bidding and many thanks again!
