Hello all,
6 Cdn gents do the boys weekend away and would like to know other than the two Bruins games we will take in and a college ball game or two what would you recommend for a weekend of entertainment in Beantown? (we%26#39;re all 30ish)
Also, just where would the best part of town be to stay??
Thanx for your help and input!!!
Nov 2-6 Boston VisitAre you sure you%26#39;re coming to see the Bruins? ; )
';The Garden'; is at North Station, while Nickerson Field is west of Kenmore Square... opposite ends of a small town. To be centrally located, you%26#39;d probably want to stay in the Copley area, though just about anything will be convenient to all sports venues by public transportation... both the Garden and Nickerson are on the Green Line (subway). Harvard%26#39;s stadium is a bit out of the way unless you%26#39;re driving or go by cab. I would estimate the walk from the Harvard Square subway station (Red Line) is about a mile.
There is a great sports bar called Champions located on the street level (Huntington Ave) of Copley Place... which connects to or is near several hotels... Marriott, Colonnade, Back Bay Hilton, Sheraton.
Champions is a great place to go for just about any sport... TVs are all over the place showing every imagineable game being shown anywhere on satellite.
Nov 2-6 Boston VisitWow sounds like you guys are going on a great trip to a wondefful city. I think once you have arrived you will find this wonderful city has a plethera of things to keep your group amused. The nightlife is great even for a group of 30ish gents.
If you are going to be at the TD garden twice, you might want to stay nearby. There are two very nice hotels right near there. One is the Clarion Bullfinch hotel on Merrimac St. The other one is the Onyx hotel on Portland St. Both would be very convenient to the Garden (%26lt; 5 min walk). Both have reviews here on TripAdvisor.
As for fun, directly across the street from the Garden is the Bullfinch Triangle neighborhood. Along the side streets off of Causeway St. (Canal St., Portland St.) there are many, many bars and clubs catering to the sports crowds. Two of my favorites are Boston Beer Works and Hurricane O%26#39;Reilly%26#39;s, both on Canal St. Since you are all healthy young men, you probably want to know that there%26#39;s a Hooters bar in the area as well, on Friend St. ;)
Also, just a short walk away is Quincy Market, with lots of bars and restaurants and shopping. The North End is also a short walk away from the Garden. If you like Pizza, try Pizzaria Regina on Thatcher St. in the North End.
Prompt replies and great advice...this is great!!!!
Our next step is to secure a hotel in the downtown area.
A bit of background on us...yes indeed we are coming to Boston for the most part to see the Bruins. We are ice hockey referees from the Toronto area and we choose a different NHL city each year for some sports and entertainment (not always in that order). It%26#39;s all about fun in a new city!!!!
Keep the info coming.....we look forward to your great hospitality in early November.
Cheers!!
jsboston---BU doesn%26#39;t have a football team anymore. So I%26#39;m wondering---what sports are now played at Nickerson field? For college football---wouldn%26#39;t Northeastern be a better option?
Unfortunately, Boston College will be playing away that weekend, or else that would be a good thing to go see.
Northeastern has a home game Nov. 5. They play in Brookline (Longwood stop on the Green ';D'; line).
Unless it conflicts with your other plans, there is a Boston University vs. Univ. of Vermont college hockey game at Agganis Arena on the B. U. campus on Friday, November 4, 2005 at 7:00 P.M. For tickets and directions:
www.agganisarena.com/events/office/index.html
You can take the Green Line subway, (the ';T';), to that location.
College hockey here is of high quality. Many players from Hockey East make it to the NHL.

Sorry about the repeated posting.
I was wondering if anyone knows how hard it is to get tickets to the Bruins game. Even on game day, especially with one of the games being Pittsburgh.
