new york city to boston day trip

Hi,

The Easiest way, the Cheapest Way, and the Fastest Way are all not the same way.

Easiest: Rent a car, or take Amtrak Acela. The Acela will get you to Boston in 3 1/2 hours for about $100 each way.

Cheapest way: Fung Wah Bus Co. $15 each way between Boston and NYC.

Fastest Way: Delta or USAir shuttle. This is also by far the most expensive way. I think it%26#39;s $150 each way? Maybe more.

It%26#39;s a tough day trip, but it%26#39;s doable in one very long day. If you drive or take the bus, it%26#39;s about a 4-5 hour trip each way.

FYI -- Fung Wah bus has been in the news as of late for various mishaps...the latest being a bus fire.

Greyhound has a one way fare of $25 with a three day advance purchase.

If you know where you are going it is only 4 hours each way with luck and no traffic..that is an 8 hour commute..why bother?? You will be overwhelmed and exhausted...is there somethong specific you want to see?? I also find it to be a difficult trip getting into and out of each city..maps don%26#39;t do it justice. DKEL

I used to do the NYC-Boston commute every weekend, and flew. There are shuttle specials, with advance planning that are as cheap as bus or train. Plan well tho if you%26#39;re not familiar, b/c getting in/out of NYC airports can take even longer than the flights. OTOH, if I had to do a day R/T to NYC tomorrow, I%26#39;d drive (4-5 hr.is about right), it%26#39;s a haul but if you only have a day, you%26#39;ll need scheduling flexibility.

Another option I%26#39;ve heard of -- admittedly only from %26#39;grannies%26#39; -- is ';day charter'; tour busses, that apparently run from boston (early a.m.) to NYC and back (late), with stops for sights and shopping.

A ';day-trip'; is pushing it. consider staying over night, and it%26#39;s be no sweat.

Have fun, go for it.

A lot of people are checking out the One Way $15 bus trip. There are several Asian bus lines and the one I%26#39;m hearing more and more of is this so check it out.

There has been talk that some of the bus companies they have are too loud and boistorous and no one speaks English. That%26#39;s the main complaint. I know people that took this particular bus service and found it to be just find. They said what do you want for 15 bucks one way! They did%26#39;t care about things like that as long as they got there in one piece and had a seat on the bus!

I prefer the Limoliner. www.limoliner.com it%26#39;s around $65 one way if not more now with the gas the way it is. It%26#39;s 4 hours, you%26#39;re going in a limo to New York or vice versa. It%26#39;s like flying first class, the seats are extremely comfortable, the clientale couldn%26#39;t be any nicer and accommodating. They have beverages and meals for the trip. Check it out, if you%26#39;re considering flying and you can pay the $150 air fare then you should check this way of getting to New York or Boston. It%26#39;s well worth it.

Good luck!
