Travel between Boston, Martha's Vineyard and NY

I%26#39;m travelling from Boston to Martha%26#39;s Vineyard then onto New York in October and made an assumption (wrongly, it turns out!) that I could take luggage on the train or bus without restriction, as we do in the UK. However, having checked out the Amtrak and Greyhound websites, I%26#39;m worried that I won%26#39;t be able to board with a suitcase, which leaves me scratching my head for how to get around (driving isn%26#39;t an option). Any advice or insights would be gratefully appreciated!

I%26#39;ve traveled on Both Amtrak and Greyhound, and people always take luggage with them. I don%26#39;t believe you%26#39;d have a problem, as long as you don%26#39;t have too much of it.
