Girls weekend in Gloucester

A girl friend and I are visiting Gloucester in October and were wondering about the weather, if there are any good bars to visit and if there is anything else we should do while we are there! Will be there the 20th - 23rd. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks

Girls weekend in Gloucester

Hi Scents,

Dress warmly (in light layers). I%26#39;ve spent many weekends in October down in nearby Salem and the weather (like all New England weather) is a creature unto itself. It can be termperate one day (60s) then blustery and damp the next (40s to 50s).

As for restaurants, I can only recommend that you give this link a try:

or this one for stuff to do:

Good luck and good journey.

Cheers.

My favorite restaurant in Gloucester is the Franklin Cafe... their bar isn%26#39;t ';huge';, but it%26#39;s popular and they make great drinks. The food is superb! They also have a location in the South End of Boston.

You might also want to visit Hammond%26#39;s Castle... they will probably be all decked out for Halloween. If you ';google'; Hammond Castle, you%26#39;ll get some information that may be interesting to you. The castle is a replica of a medieval castle built on the rocky cliffs overlooking the Reef of Norman%26#39;s Woe, site of the Wreck of the Hesperus, made famous by Longfellow%26#39;s poem.

Also, visit Rocky Neck and take a ride to Bearskin Neck in Rockport... both quaint little art colonies.

I went with 7 people in 2000. We stayed in gloucester (it%26#39;s such a cute little fishing town, little shops) We went at the end of October and went to Salem for Halloween. We had a blast. It was very very cold though, dress warm. No memorable bars persay, you just have to go, walk around and you will come upon some bars and have a good time. The Perfect Storm was filmed there and meeting the locals who actually remembered this and the people, it was pretty amazing. Have fun!

in beverly...a few towns over, there%26#39;s a place called casa de luca...

the food is amazing
