Outlet malls in Boston?????/

The ';outlet malls'; closest to Boston are in Kittery, ME and in Wrentham, MA. Being from this area, I don%26#39;t particularly find them worth the trip, but relative to what you have in Kent, maybe they are... it%26#39;s just that it seems the concept of ';outlets'; seems to have lost its meaning... in my opinion, you can do just as well in Filene%26#39;s Basement or in Marshall%26#39;s.

On the other hand, the outlets in Freeport, ME, while not unusual in the merchandise or prices, are a very pleasant alternative to the indoor malls... it sort of reminds me of the old ';downtown'; shopping areas that every town had before the advent of malls. Though this is quite a hike from Boston, it makes for a pleasant day trip... but beware traffic if you%26#39;re planning on going anywhere near this region in foliage season.

I%26#39;d definately recommend taking a trip out to Wrentham Shopping Village - it%26#39;s fantastic for shopoholic Brits looking for a bargain, espeically if you go during the week when it%26#39;s really quiet!

If you book a bus trip from Boston city centre (I think it cost about 拢18 each with Grayline), you also get a book of discount coupons, which makes it even cheaper.

For shopping, I%26#39;d also recommend visiting TJ Maxx, Marshalls (brill for jeans / trainers), Macys and Filenes Basement in Boston city centre.

Last time we were there, we bought so much that we had to get another suitcase to get everything home!

Have fun! U2fan

were just back. get your credit cards out the savings are huge. we went there with common coaches which i think are mentioned on the wrentham leaflet cost about 22pound each grayline sounds better .it takes about an hour to get there

the discount book is invaluable and only cost $5 if you dont get one on your chosen bus stores include puma, adidas ,reebok, nike, lacoste , gap, banana republic, sketchers rockport, quicksilver just some of my favourites there are 270 in total and there are luggage stores

2 bits of advice if like bargains take 1 empty suitcase you wil fill it and secondly eat a good breakfast before you go the food court is fine but you wont want to waste time eating we went at 11am and left 6 hours later and we were rushing to make the bus home

enjoy

ps i thought felines was naff [ my personal opinon]

we also had to buy a case there

The web link posted here is for the Wrentham Village Outlet Mall, which is about 45 minutes south of Boston. It%26#39;s definitely worth a trip. They have great shopping. There is a Grayline tour which leaves downtown Boston hotels for the mall, as well. Details are on that web site.

As mentioned here also, you can take a very nice 2 1/2 hour trip up to the outlets in Maine, in Kittery and Freeport as well, which is a nice day trip from Boston.

Thank you everybody. I think we may def go there before whilst over at Christmas time.

Do they close early over the Christmas period????

Thanks again.

Hello Hays 84,

There are very good outlet malls all over New England. I feel the same way as some of the previous posters about the Wrentham Mall and the Kittery Outlets. For one thing I live in NH close to Kittery so I%26#39;m actually in Kittery, ME more often than people not from around here. There ARE some good deals there without a doubt. For instance, my cousin lives in Canada and absolutely loves The Kittery Outlets and the Freeport, Maine Outlets.

For one thing, it%26#39;s extremely expensive for clothes in Montreal where she lives, so for her? She has a field day every time she comes down for long weekends, she%26#39;s right at those outlets!

A few times a year my friends, sisters, and I will go up to the ';Settler%26#39;s Green Outlet Village'; on Rte 16 in No. Conway and we find it to be even more of a savings than Kittery and Wrentham. For one thing in the state of NH it%26#39;s 100% tax free shopping and at this particular outlet you can save 30 to 60% every day of the year in over 60 stores. I%26#39;m spoiled because of it, when I was in Wrentham visiting friends one time I stopped there to see it and I thought it was great and everything BUT I didn%26#39;t see the sales or the deals I see in No. Conway, there was a huge difference. Kittery, ME Outlets lately has gotten quite a lot better than it has in the past, I will give the Kittery Outlets credit, in the last 2 years or so it%26#39;s picked up due to the stiff competition in NH I%26#39;m hearing! If you ever get the chance? Check out the outlets in No. Conway some day, you%26#39;ll see the difference, it%26#39;s well worth the trip, it%26#39;s 2 1/2 hours from Boston, for me it%26#39;s only a little over an hour and a half, so it%26#39;s closer. Here%26#39;s the site, so you can check out the stores they have:

Happy Shopping!

The Outlets will be open, just NOT on Christmas Day.

Just an FYI to add to the message 2 posts up....

Massachussetts does not charge a sales tax on clothing items that cost less than $140 USD (I believe that is the amount). You can have $1000 worth of clothing items, but as long as each is below $140, there is not tax. There is a tax on all other non-clothing items.
