Boston student hangouts

I%26#39;m a 21 yr old and basically want to blend in. Anyone know where students hang out, not so much bar wise, but like coffee shops and public places.

Hi Lazy,

This is Boston. You will blend in anywhere you go, except maybe for the lobby of the Ritz Carlton Hotel. :)

Go to any place in Kenmore Square, or Harvard Sq. The Au bon Pain cafe in Harvard Sq. is a huge college hangout, with a large outdoor seating area. The area of Commonwealth Avenue leading out of Kenmore Sq., towards Allston is almost entirely college-oriented (pizza shops, cafes, stores, cheap ethnic restaurants, bars, etc.). Get off anywhere on the Green Line B branch above ground and start walking.

In nice weather, there are usually TONS of college students swarming over the Public Garden and the Boston Common, sitting on blankets, playing frisbee, and just hanging out.

There are almost as many college students here during the school year as there are full-time residents. I%26#39;m sure you will fit right in.

There are some great places in Boston to hang out at. One place I would suggest is the Common Ground on a Wednesday night. They have IPOD Dj night and the crowd is low-key diners who aren%26#39;t really there for the bar scene but just to hang out. Also, the Otherside Cafe at the end of Newbury near the Hynes T-stop is popular for those who just want to hang out and have great food and coffee (Try their Milkyway Coffee, it%26#39;s awesome) Or if you want to be around young people in general try the end of Newbury Street, or the Allston area--Herrell%26#39;s in Allston usually gathers a good college crowd--you can get ice cream and catch up on your reading. Also, certain nights at the Coolidge Corner Theater--like event nights and midnight movies are very popular with college kids. I would also get a livejournal and join the B0st0n community to find out what%26#39;s going on in the area and what the young people are up to. Events around boston like the Punk Rawk FleaMarket, and Bizarre Bazaar and Wizard (comicon) convention are very popular as well.
