a ';straight'; anniversary in P-town

My husband and I will be celebrating our 13 anniversary in October and have the opportunity to get away for three wonderful nights. We live on long island and will be leaving our 2 little ones at home with the grandparents. I searched and searched on the internet for a romantic place and so far the one that fits our budget and interests is the Crowne Pointe inn. We are not homophobs in any way and realize that we will probably be in the minority. I guess my only reservation is how will we be received by others.

Any suggestions on great restaurants (great authentic New England seafood..doesn%26#39;t have to be fancy)?

Great place to have a few drinks?

Great place to get a picnic lunch to go?

Great place to eat it?

Thanks everyone!!!!!!!!!

Hi Shoney- you will have a good time in p-town, not to worry, people are pretty accepting of just about everything, including straight couples. We did the same thing you did, and enjoyed ourselves. There are tons of restaurants, not sure about a picnic, though I can%26#39;t imagine it would be a problem (cute grocery store on the main street), along with bookstores, taffy, etc. The drive there will also be nice, with lots of places to stop on the way, plus great beaches. Have a happy anniversary!

Not to worry about ';being accepted'; or any other concern about fitting in! You will not be in the minority... though P-Town has a large gay population, the actual majority of residents are straight, unbiased people like yourself.

Try the Lobster Pot in the very center of town for seafood, Bouboula%26#39;s a few blocks down Commercial St. for lunch, and the Post Office Diner on Commercial or Tops for Tips%26#39;n on Bradford for breakfast. For a fantastic anniversary dinner, the Martin House would be my pick.

For drinks... what a dilemma! If it%26#39;s open, the roof deck at Europa is great for people watching. If it happens to be chilly, step into the ';Little Bar'; at the Atlantic House (ask for ';The A-House';) and have a drink by their fireplace. It%26#39;s a gay bar, but I%26#39;ll bet you%26#39;ll enjoy it... especially if you like old architecture, flagstone floors and a jukebox with songs you never thought you%26#39;d hear again.

There used to be a place called something like ';Box Lunch'; that specialized in guess what?... picnic lunch boxes. I don%26#39;t remember seeing it last time I was there, but businesses have been known to change locations in town.

Have a great time!

Ptown is all welcome.. I just stay%26#39;d at the Crowne Pointe and had a fantastic time.. You%26#39;ll love it

Don%26#39;t worry about how you will be recieved. Provincetown is by far one of the most accepting places in the world. Not to mention you will most likely not be the minority.

Suggestion 1. Don%26#39;t get caught up in the tourist traps.( Lobster pot food is not so great) Take a break from Commercial Street and venture out to the Dunes and beaches. The whale watches are superb!

Best romantic place to eat- The Red Inn

Another suggestion for dinner- Betty%26#39;s by the Bayside

Suggestion 2. Take an afternoon trip to Wellfleet. It%26#39;ll take you 20 minutes to drive. The town is great! Eat lunch. Visit the beaches there. Awesome!!

Shoney...You will have a fabulous time in Provincetown. Do not listen to someone like Affinity who has one response on this forum and is trying to tell you that the Lobster Pot is no good.

The Lobster Pot has been around forever and is one of the top Provincetown restaurants with great food, great service and absolute great views and ambience.
