South Shore Plaza

Hi Folks

I%26#39;m taking my elderly mum to Boston on 26th Nov for a few days (shopping!!). Last time I was there I saw the South Shore Plaza on my way to Wrentham Village. Any ideas of taxi prices to/from there or would it be worth it? Just think it would be easier to navigate if the weather was miserable and cold.

I can%26#39;t wait to return to (what I think) is one of the nicest places in the world to visit! Beats New York every time!!

South Shore Plaza

Cabs cost about $4 per Mile plus regulated fixed charges for toll booths and tunnel passage per trip to anywhere in Massachusetts. So, depending where in Boston you%26#39;re staying....a cab could cost up to $40 one way.

South Shore Plaza

Hi LittlePumpkin,

So you liked that South Shore Mall did you? It%26#39;s enclosed with a huge amount of shops isn%26#39;t it! It%26#39;s great for those rainy and cold days, walking from one shop to the next to explore and shop with your mother sounds like a plan when you come to visit!

The South Shore Mall in Braintree, MA is one of the ';Simon Malls'; and this corporation owns 15 out of the many malls all over Massachusetts, did you know that? In New Hampshire where I live they own 3 of the best Malls in the State, the Mall of NH, Pheasant Lane Mall in Nashua, NH and the Mall at Rockingham Park in Salem, NH.

For you and your mother%26#39;s visit if we knew where you were staying in Boston it might help us suggest which Mall you should probably hit that might be a little more convenient for the both of you.

For instance Copley Place is a Simon Mall right in the Back Bay and it%26#39;s right where the Prudential Center area is which also has the Pru Shops to explore, you can get over very easily to the Copley Place from the skywalk.

There%26#39;s also the Mall at Chestnut Hill and the Atrium Mall to consider right at 199 Boylston St. in Brookline.

The reason why you really liked the Wrentham Village Premium Outlets on your last visit? It%26#39;s because they%26#39;re part of the ';Simon Mall'; Corporation as well. There%26#39;s quite a few of these Malls you could visit that are right in Boston alone that you then wouldn%26#39;t need to worry about a taxi or transportation to the Mall or back to your Hotel.

One Mall that you really should think about that the Simon Malls don%26#39;t have on their list but it%26#39;s extremely popular is the ';CambridgeSide Galleria'; which is right near the Museum of Science in Cambridge. It%26#39;s all indoors and so easy to get to. They have a ';Cheesecake Factory'; Restaurant that%26#39;s incredible. You%26#39;d really like this Mall when you see all the shops and it%26#39;s so convenient from the Hotels in Boston to get to, so think about that!

You%26#39;ll see all the many stores they have right online.

Good luck with your iteniary with your visit to Boston! You%26#39;re going to be very busy!

I%26#39;d definitely recommend the Cambridgeside Galleria, it%26#39;s easy to get to on the T, end of the line at Lechmere and then just a 2 minute walk. Has everything you need and a great food court.

Thanks for all the information folks!

Nomo01 - I am familiar with Prudential %26amp; Copley Plazas as I have stayed in the Sheraton a few times. Personally I would just love to wander around and savour the lovely friendly atmosphere in Boston rather than spend my time in big impersonal malls - but as I love my mum dearly (and as she is a serious shopaholic!!) - just thought I%26#39;d try to get the best itinerary to suit her!

Have checked out the web for Cambridge Mall and it looks good (for her!!)

Looking forward to visiting for our 5 days - but dread the thoughts of checking in at the airport to come home (excess baggage etc etc if my mum gets her way........!!)

Best Regards

Little Pumpkin

If you are staying in downtown Boston you can take the Red Line for $1.25 each way to Braintree and only have a couple of bucks taxi to the Plaza

Dont forget that the best deals are in Downtown Crossing Filene%26#39;s Basement and its only a block from the Parker House Hotel if you dont have reservations they are offering great discounts for that week around $119 and the hotel is right in the heart of the city and only 2 blocks from Quincy Marketplace too.
