Rumor of a large new Marriott under construction on Cape?

We have a large group traveling from Texas in June, and hear rumor of a large new Marriott still under construction on the Cape. Can anyone confirm this and tell me where it is located?

Hi There Lindslea, There IS a Courtyard hotel in the Mall area in Hyannis but Marriott res doesn%26#39;t know about anything new coming on line on the Cape. They usually have information in they res systems the minute a new hotel is planned. Are you looking for a place for your group or do you have that already booked?

Rumor of a large new Marriott under construction on Cape?

Yes, we are looking for a large place that will hold several groups, actually. Our ice skating team is going to have to reserve about 25 rooms, and other teams will be doing the same. We hope to stay somewhere big enough for several teams. We skate in Bourne. And we are looking for a family place, as these are kids in the 7-17 age range (well-behaved and supervised kids) and their parents. Somebody from the ice rink in Bourne said a new Marriott is going up, but didn%26#39;t say where-that%26#39;s where my original question started. Sounds like that is not the case, though. Any advice you can give would be great. Thanks!

Now that you have identified your needs a little more those who post to this board may be better able to advise you. I am not familiar with this area but I am going to offer you some avenues to pursue if you%26#39;d like. Check out capecodchamber.org but you might get further talking to a live person there at 888-332-2732. There%26#39;s also massachsetts.com - 800-227-6277. The closest area to Bourne with enough accommodations for your group is Mashpee. The New Seabury Resort is super with lots of different types of accommodations - newseabury.com. The other two there I am not familiar with but the Sea Mist Resort 800-228-2968 is 90 time share condos with one and two bedroom and townhouse accommodations with a variety of amenities which can be good for families. Rates in late June start at $175 per night however if you are arriving earlier in June you should expect lower rates and you can negotiate. The last one in this area has the least accommodations which are 33 upscale time-share houses which rent from $245 starting in late June and list the rates for off-season as starting at $90-$125 nightly and $600-$750 weekly. That is Cape Cod Holiday Estates - www.8664myvacation.com. At least these rates will give you an idea. Other posters will give you some input on Hyannis hotels I%26#39;m sure but you might like having a full kitchen for at least the convenience of breakfast and some snacks. Additionally you could contact a good travel agent as they have access to information that you don%26#39;t and they know where to find it too. I don%26#39;t think agents charge you for their research when they book the hotel as the hotels still pay them commission to send them the business. It%26#39;s just the airline who don%26#39;t pay commission anymore but you can still save with a good agent and then you pay a fee of usually $25-$50 per ticket. A good agent is like a good hairdresser...it%26#39;s usually not everyone in the agency who can best help you but some outstanding ones. Ask your friends who travel for business and/or leisure for that name. Check back here too from time to time to see what others come up with for you. Good luck and happy skating. P.S. Do you think the new Marriott may be in an off-Cape (but nearby) location? Call Marriott res if you want to pursue that.

LL,

What excatly constitutes a large group? How can The Houston Astros afford to take a SECOND year off from baseball. Will they be bringing their wives? Kids?

Then again, this IS baseball we%26#39;re talking about, isn%26#39;t it?

ADM HALSEY :)

Good try, but I am glad the world series is over. That was ALL that was on the local stations for awhile. Sorry! Though there are a lot of baseball fans around Houston, I%26#39;m not into it. I%26#39;m saving myself for the winter olympics!

BTW, most of the groups that are looking for a hotel are from California and the Northeast. And our little ice skaters don%26#39;t spit and scratch like baseball players!

Lindslea,

OK, OK.....

Bring on the next Dorothy Hamill %26amp; Scott Hamilton - the Tony Kent Arena awaits them with open arms...

I would strongly recommend looking into The All Seasons on Main St. in So Yarmouth, probably to the ';eeke'; of other writers here, but I see large groups over the summer.

The management there seems to be very helpful and support-ative to all comers.

Good luck on your travels. By the way, all current %26amp; former ballplayers don%26#39;t scratch and spit. Sometimes we just stand around and chew gum or tobacco. Like Tonya Harding.

Then, we scratch %26amp; spit. :)

ADM HALSEY

Hi Lindslea,

Adm Halsey is correct, and no it%26#39;s not a gross one at all Adam! It%26#39;s a ';good one'; down that Cape! The All Seasons Motor Inn at 800 527-0359 is a place I really liked when my nieces were younger. My mother and other sister and I took them with us for a few days every summer right when they got out of school and that%26#39;s where we went all along that Main St or Rte 28 to one of those Motor Inns with a pool! Hey that%26#39;s what they mean when they say ';It takes a Village!

The All Seasons Motor Inn is a keeper---definitely check it out when you%26#39;re making your reservations, we stayed there a few times. It%26#39;s clean, really convenient and more importantly it%26#39;s a safe place for kids to be and the pool is clean and really nice for the summer months. A lot of families stay there. With a group like that that you%26#39;re planning on taking? You might want to book as soon as you can. We stayed further up at the Cove one year too, that was very nice too.
