Will be heading to Foxboro from NJ on Friday Oct 28 mid afternoon.(3ish) Now that the summer traffic has hopefully subsided, can anyone who has driven recently give an update on traffic? Pondering going 84 to Mass pike to 495 or 95N. Suggestions?
Thank you,
Low Tide Guy

Coming inbound (toward Boston) at that hour shouldn%26#39;t be an issue. There will be some slight backup at the tolls when you make the transition from I-84 to the Pike, but if you have EZ Pass you can zoom right through.
Probably the easiest to do is take I-495 South to Route 1 North for Foxboro.
Driving directions from New Jersey
Hi,
I95 north is more direct, as it will take you right to Foxboro stadium. But, the section of I95 through CT can be a nightmare, depending on the day%26#39;s traffic. I travel frequently from Quincy to Westport, CT on I95. The backups around New Haven are sometimes really horrid. But, I%26#39;ve been backed up on 495 and 84 also, sometimes for hours.
It%26#39;s really out of the way to go all the way up to 84 across to the Mass Pike, and down 495. Here%26#39;s what I usually do. Listen to the NYC traffic reports. If 95 is clear through Westchester, I%26#39;d stay on I95 north, into CT. If not, take the Tappan Zee Bridge and I287 to I684 north to I84. If it is clear, stay on 95. Just before New Haven, in Milford, you have the opportunity to exit onto the Wilbur Cross Pkwy North and hook up with I 91 in Meriden, to I84 in Hartford and continue that way. If I hear that there%26#39;s nasty traffic ahead in New Haven/Branford, I%26#39;ll exit and go that way. If not, I%26#39;ll continue on 95 North. It%26#39;s definitely the shortest and most direct route. Traffic through Providence usually isn%26#39;t that bad; I%26#39;ve never been stuck there.
Hope that helps. I%26#39;m a veteran of driving between here and CT/NYC, so I%26#39;ve tried all the routes :)
Beantown-Thank you for the advice. If you go to wcbs880.com there are links to I95 traffic reports I%26#39;ve been told. Have you ever used that method or do you listen to the radio and hope to catch a 95 mention?
Hi lowtide,
Usually, I turn on WCBS AM and listen until I hear a traffic report. You can pick up WCBS past New Haven, and they do mention if there%26#39;s a large backup in Fairfield County.
Also, there are electronic notice boards along 95 in CT that tell you if there is a delay ahead. I%26#39;ve found them to be fairly accurate, and it%26#39;s a good source of information.
Beantown,
Will give it a try. Thank you.
