We will be staying in the theatre district
child-friendly restaurantswhat do you consider kid-friendly? Kids%26#39; menus? if you don%26#39;t mind chain restaurants that you can find anywhere else in the country, there there are plenty: california pizza kitchen, hard rock cafe, tgi friday%26#39;s and bertucci%26#39;s. durgin park in quincy market is loud and the wait staff are smart-mouthed but my kids enjoy it.
child-friendly restaurantsLet me start this one over. My husband and two children (ages 5 %26amp; 9) will be staying at the Radisson in Boston during the last weekend in October. We both enjoy fine dining and want to avoid chain restaurants (with the exception of Legal Seafoods). Where can we can our kids and still feel comfortable?
If your kids are dressed appropriately and behaved they will be welcome anywhere. We brought our children to Aujourd%26#39;hui in the Four Seasons when they were younger than yours and had no problems.
Any specific reccomendations for restaurants in and around the theatre district?
You could walk to Fanueil Hall from the theatre district which is a great area with the kids but I wouldn%26#39;t walk back at night as the ';theatre district'; is the former combat zone..the ';street life'; still can be dicey..
you are on the outskirts of chinatown and beacon hill both within a mile or so. Dozens of good restaurants in those areas...Charles Street on the hill has the ';hungry I'; which is an old favorite of mine and about 5 others.. D
NatMom,
If you are looking for upscale, non-chain places in the Theater District:
Pigalle on Charles St. --Very good French Bistro
Teatro on Tremont St.--Italian cafe
Via Matta in Park Sq.--Very trendy, upscale Italian definitely one of the ';in'; places right now.
We had a good experience at Davio%26#39;s in Park Square.
My favorite in that area is Troquet, but I%26#39;m not sure how kid friendly it is. It%26#39;s kind of an upscale wine bar with their whole menu centered on wine pairings that they serve in 2 and 4 ounce portions to encourage tasting several.
A place with great food where I often see kids is Tapeo on Newberry Street. It%26#39;s not in your general area, but a quick trip by cab or T. It serves a wide variety of interesting tapas.
Spring of 2004, we were staying at the Hyatt downtown (between downtown crossing and China town) our kids were 8,8,11. The concierge recommended Teatro, on a Saturday night! It was very crowded and very chic, ours were the only kids in there. That said, the wait staff couldn%26#39;t have been nicer, no kids menu but they did whatever we asked for (mostly plain pasta). The kids were tired and ended up falling asleep on the bench seat, but we had a great dinner. I%26#39;m not sure I%26#39;d recommend it for kids, but they were wonderful. Might try for earlier in the evening, before the place is hopping!
