I just wanted to share feedback on my recent trip to Boston. I have been back for a little over a week and am ready to go back. I love to travel and have been a lot of places, but I have to say that this trip was the best ever. Previously, I would have to say D.C. was my favorite destination. Boston exceeded my expectations by far! We had such a great time. Everyone was so pleasant and helpful and the city was beautiful and full of life. It was amazing to me to walk past a modern highrise and a classic historical church on the same street right next to each other. Living in Nashville, I do not see that very often. I just wanted to share, because feedback from this forum was very very helpful during the planning stages of my trip. I appreciate it. We plan on coming back hopefully for a lot longer. Until next time....
What a Wonderful Trip
Glad to hear it. Would love to know what sights you took in as a tourist.
What a Wonderful Trip
We did a lot of sightseeing up Newbury St. to the Public Garden and Beacon Hill and then we went to a Red Sox/Yankees game. We went to Faneuil Hall and Quincy Market and ended up going to both Cheers locations (stumbled upon the original and ate lunch at the replica). We watched the other two Red Sox/Yankees game in various bars/restaurants on Boylston Street (one I think called the Rattlesnake Bar and Grill) which was fun. Went shopping in the Prudential Center Mall and took a trip out to the Kennedy Museum (very nice!), and the last night we were there we did a sunset harbor cruise which took us by the U.S.S. Constitution. Along the way we stumbled upon many other things, but did not go in because they were closed or we were on our way elsewhere. We did not even break the surface...there were so many other things we wanted to see! Guess that gives me an excuse to plan another trip! :-)
Glad to hear that you had a great time! Although I now live in the DC area, I am a native Bostonian and try to get back as often as possible. I hope you do get a chance to get back to Boston. If you come during warmer weather, ride the swan boats at the Public Garden---they%26#39;re unique to Boston. Did you get to the top of the Pru? If not, there are great views up there!
Unfortunately we did not...even though we were staying in the Sheraton and passed it numerous time!!!! We planned to go up there several times and always ran out of time. I will definetly remember the swan boats the next time I go. (I started a list of must-do, and it is already pretty long!) The Public Garden was beautiful. How hot does it usually get in the summer? The weather was perfect while we were there, but of course down here summers are just too hot and way too humid!!!
Summertime temps here have a habit of being all over the place - cool and damp or hot and humid. This year I would say we had a more normal summer with at many days at a time in the 90+ range. The humidity here can be difficult to manage for some, but I suspect that your living in Nashville would be good preparation!
I am very pleased that you enjoyed your trip here and found our city pleasant. Do come back again!
