Hi, I live in Marblehead but would travel into Boston or stay on the North Shore for this Saturday night - looking for a great restaurant for my husband%26#39;s birthday - we like steak, seafood and italian - something nice but not too stuffy - any recommendations???
Need a birthday dinner restaurant for this Saturday night
I don%26#39;t know why this popped in my head -- not directly from ';steak, seafood and italian'; -- maybe b/c I had a B%26#39;day dinner there once and was thrilled. And it%26#39;s a little different than the ';usual'; good steak or lobster place or whatever. Even tho we used to frequent the now-defunct-I-understand branch in Porter, Cambridge, the dinner was still very special. In our case, they accommodated a relatively large party (8-10) with ease, got everything right, helped sort out the paying (the usual hassle with some people wanting separate checks etc. - go figure), and each and every dish was original and delicious, including meat-lovers%26#39; delights - a wild sumptuous mixed grill - %26amp; fresh seafood, and (not cheap but) not ridiculously expensive - good value. Free validated parking too, a plus in town. The Cottonwood Cafe in Back Bay.
The best darn lamb chops I%26#39;ve ever had (and I%26#39;m a lamb freak), and one of the best Paella. Try the Seafood Rancheros and/or Lobster and Brie Quesadilla.

Happy birthday, hubby.

Take a look at the Chowhounds site for New England. All they do is talk about restaurants.
Just my two cents. My favorite restaurant in the Boston area is Oleana. It might be impossible to get a reservation on short notice, though.
