i am coming to boston with a few girls for our mini girls getaway. we have never been. are there hotels near good nightlife AND shopping areas or sightseeing? what bars/lounges are good for 27-30 year old girls that don%26#39;t allow college aged poeple with fake IDS in. are taxis available easily?
girls weekend
I%26#39;d look into the Millenium Bostonian Hotel, which is right across the street from Quincy Market. The Market area is filled with bars and clubs which you can hop from one to the other all evening long. It%26#39;s also near most of the downtown tourist attractions, too.
Taxi%26#39;s are readily available in that area, too.
One fun place in the back bay is Kings on Boylston st., which is an upscale bar/bowling alley, with an nice seafood restaurant (summer shack) attached. It tends to attract a more mature, less college-age crowd, too.
girls weekend
I would recommend the Jurys Hotel just around the corner from Back Bay Station in the Copley area (there are also a ton of other hotels in that area as well, and you can%26#39;t really go wrong). I%26#39;ve never stayed at it myself (though I have stayed at one of the Jurys in Washington and loved it), but I%26#39;ve heard only wonderful things about it. You can check the reviews on this site for more details. That area is great, because you are within short walking distance of a wide variety of bars/restaurants on Boylston Street, as well as Boston%26#39;s popular shopping/dining strip, Newbury Street.
If you%26#39;re looking for nightlife, one of the biggest draws of the Jurys Hotel is its great Irish bar, Cuffs. It%26#39;s very popular with a professional crowd (ages ranging from 25 to 40 or so) and is upscale and lively, particularly after work. The food and drinks are good and it has two below street level patios, so you can have a few drinks outside while being shielded from any wind.

You should def. stay in back pay near the prudential building, Newbury. It%26#39;s near all the major attractions and also in the hotspot for shopping. I recommend The Lenox, Jurys or anything else in Copley Square.
I just spent a weekend in Boston with my mom to shop. We stayed at the Marriott Copley, which was excellent (80.00 through Priceline) attached to Prudential center mall and Copley Mall, one block away from all the vintage, boutiques on Newbury Street and great food everywhere ( I recommend Stephanie%26#39;s on Newbury). Ask for a top-floor and view of harbor room, quiet and great scenery! I find Quincy to be more ';touristy'; but Copley was perfect. Also big night scene, noticed a lot of groups of 20somethings (like myself) out at night. Seems like there are plenty of bars and I%26#39;m sure the concierge at Marriott will help you out, they were great with us and even made dinner reservations for us!
I%26#39;m going to reiterate what was said above...for a girls weekend, stay in Back Bay/ Copley. The shopping there is the best in the city -- you%26#39;ve got two great upscale malls and Newbury St. to wander around (and it%26#39;s easy enough to trek over to the Faneuil Hall Marketplace if you want something different).
Kings is lots of fun. There is also plenty of nightlife in the area. One of my favorite places is the Cactus Club, which has fantastic margaritas (it%26#39;s a dinner place more than ';nightlife'; but it%26#39;s as good a place as any to begin a night out). There are places to dance, clubs, etc. You%26#39;re also reasonably close to the South End, which also has good nightlife.
Consider a spa outing as well...there are a bunch on Newbury St., and while some are tremendously expensive others are quite affordable.
I just organized a bachelorette weekend in May and we stayed at the Westin Copley.
Have fun!!!
thanks for all the tips. but one question...where are people getting prices like $80 per night at the marriott copley. it is $299 on priceline and expedia
I got mine (80.00) on Priceline.
When are you going to be in Boston Zini??
Zini13,
Check out this website - betterbidding.com, if you want to learn more about how to bid on hotels on Priceline. The people there are rather helpful.
Also hotwire.com is another good source for getting cheaper hotels in a major city. Good luck!
we are going nov 18-20
