My husband and I are going to see Billy Crystal%26#39;s ';700 Sundays'; on Sat, 10/22 - 3 pm show. Any suggestions on restaurants in the area? We%26#39;ll be eating around 6, I guess, since the show is at 3. Thanks!
Restaurants near Opera HouseWell, the Opera House is located at Washington Street and Ave. de Lafayette, which puts it close to Chinatown, or what is now known as the Ladder District. Truth is, from the Opera House you can walk to almost anything within 10 minutes.
I like China Pearl or Ocean Seafood in Chinatown, but if you%26#39;d like a nice, simple meal with a glass of wine (or two) then try Vidalia, a bar/restaurant in Downtown Crossing. If you%26#39;re walking down Summer Street so that Filene%26#39;s is on your left, Vidalia%26#39;s will be on the left in the next block. Take the escalator to the 2nd floor and get a window seat to people watch.

The Opera House isn%26#39;t far from Park Square, either. I%26#39;d recommend PF Chang%26#39;s, or Maggiano%26#39;s. I%26#39;ve enjoyed all my meals there. Another place I enjoy is Jacob Wirth%26#39;s on Stuart St., near Washington St. The German food is good, and it%26#39;s a nice change from the usual fare.
Thanks so much to both ';BeanTownMan'; and ';beansandcod.'; That helps a lot!
beansandcod: I can%26#39;t find any listing for Vidalia restaurant. Does it go by another name?
Thanks!
My favorite before going to shows, if you want something a little fancier, is Troquet. It%26#39;s absolutely fabulous and a quick walk fromt he Opera House.
Hi NKB,
Beansandcod mentioned Vidalia%26#39;s and then on another post from this one he said it was Vinalia%26#39;s, I was so curious about it that I called my old office downtown to see if they heard about it. Well check it out because people I worked with in town said it%26#39;s unbelievably good. You need reservations for it, it%26#39;s a stones throw from the Opera House at 101 Arch St. the # is 617 737-1777.

On the site it says that Vinalia is latin for the festival of wines. From what they%26#39;re saying it%26#39;s quite good there.
The Scollay Square Restaurant is unbelievable too they said, I%26#39;m glad they tried it because that%26#39;s one that my friends and I are absolutely hitting one of these days also!
It%26#39;s just that for you, this Vinalia%26#39;s might be a closer walk after the show and if it%26#39;s raining and lousy out, then this might be a better alternative?
I wouldn%26#39;t go to Chinatown with all these other great places to hit nearby, that%26#39;s just my opinion.
Have fun, that show is going to be GREAT!!
Here%26#39;s a review on Vinalia%26#39;s....

NoMo01... thanks for the information on Vinalia. We ended up going to West Street Grille which was pretty good. Right around the corner from the Opera House, which was perfect, since it was raining when we left the show.
Billy Crystal%26#39;s ';700 Sundays'; was terrific! We highly recommend it. You%26#39;ll laugh and cry all within the span of a wonderful 3 hour show.
