Boston @ new year?

We are traveling to Boston to celebrate New Year but am now worried as to what is actually open on the 1st - 3rd January 2006.

This is our 3rd visit to Boston our favourite destination but how do the shops/restaurants theatres/mueseums ect open (if at all) over this period?

Feel a bit stupid as really should have found this out before booking, but we thought, well this IS the USA - everythings 24/7, right? :-/

Boston @ new year?

Hi Mister Meldew,

On New Years Day the Museum of Science is OPEN--www.mos.org

The Museum of Fine Arts is closed on New Years Day--www.mfa.org

The JFK Library Museum---www.jfklibrary.org is closed on New Years Day.

The Isabella Gardner Museum is OPEN

www.gardnermuseum.org

The Gardner Museum to me, would be a really good take on New Years Day, I bet it wouldn%26#39;t be crowded at all if you got there early, check it out!

You won%26#39;t have trouble finding any restaurants bars and cafes closed on this day, usually a lot of them are open on New Years Day now. Where it%26#39;s a holiday and as some people online here alluded to earlier, it%26#39;s a ';quiet'; low key type of day, if you know what we mean! A lot of people are either home watching football games or ';relaxing'; for the day!

You%26#39;ll see everything open on the 2nd and 3rd though.

Have a great time!
