I will be in Boston the last weekend in Ocotober. I will be staying at the Charlesmark due to the great reviews I have read about it. I was wondering if there are any main areas where there are a lot of bars/nightlife that my girlfriend and I could visit? I was also interested in a nice evening out one night, maybe a nice restaurant or something like that..any suggestions? Thanks!!
Bars/Nightlife
Hi,
Since you will be at the Charlesmark, you will be near the Fenway Park/Landsdown street area. There are lots of clubs and bars along the street, you can just walk from one to the other.
The other area you might like the Back Bay/Newbury St. area. This is also an easy walk from your hotel. It%26#39;s a bit more %26#39;upscale%26#39; than the Fenway area, but still a fun time.
As far as the evening out, can you be a bit more specific? How expensive a restaurant? What kind of food? etc. I can make some suggestions for you.
Bars/Nightlife
Hi Bus, Nightlife in Boston is strictly post college. Mostly twenty somethings standing around in forlorn bars. Almost no jazz venues. Virtually no dancing for any one over 25. Compared to Chicago its kind of nowhere. Fortunately there are some decent restaurants.Mistral and Clio are nice. Radius is considered top shelf. L%26#39;Espalier (sp) is high end. Avoid the capitol Grill or Grill 23. If you want steak try Smith %26amp; Wollensky, Flemings or Ruth%26#39;s Chris.
I have to completely disagree with the previous poster. In my opinion, his or her blanket statement on Boston%26#39;s nightlife could not be further from the truth. I%26#39;m 26, my boyfriend is 29 and we NEVER have any trouble finding fun places to dance, and we%26#39;re certainly no experts. There are plenty of upscale bars/dance clubs that cater to a slightly older crowd as they are simply too expensive for people under 25 to frequent. Gypsy Bar is one of my favorite places to dance, drink, people-watch or whatever. If that%26#39;s the kind of nightlife you%26#39;re looking for, I and others would be pleased to offer other recommendations.
I also respectfully disagree regarding Capital Grille. I try to get there a couple of times a year, as it%26#39;s one of my favorite places. To me, it%26#39;s the perfect combination of food, atmosphere and service. But when it comes to steakhouses, everybody has their own preferences and opinions do vary.
