Great trip - rotten weather!

We had a great time in Boston and Vermont - got back to England on Saturday evening. The weather was terrible - we didn%26#39;t see the sun once the whole week!

We found everyone to be very friendly and helpful and had a great time - especially loved lobster and clam chowder at Legal Seafoods. In fact clam chowder%26#39;s so good we had it about 3 times each during the week.

We did the Freedom Trail on Sunday (dull but not raining) and walked around the shops on Monday. It was Columbus Day so not everything was open - we were looking for a jeweller where we could get an eternity ring, but didn%26#39;t have any luck. The Prudential Centre Shopping was good.

We hired a car Tuesday and drove to Wilmington, Vermont where we had 3 lovely nights in the White House - log fire in our room, balcony with marvellous foliage view - plus mist, lots of it! I was unwell and had to see a Doctor and was so well looked after by the staff at the medical centre and the pharmacy - thanks guys, much appreciated.

We spent a lot of time driving about as it was so wet - had great fun following a road which closes in winter - it was little more than a track but we saw some great views. Visited Bennington %26amp; Manchester. Didn%26#39;t shop much as I wasn%26#39;t well enough - the credit card%26#39;s breathing a sigh of relief!

We drove back into Boston on Friday in torrential rain on the Interstate (can%26#39;t remember which one) and were relieved to give the car back at the airport. We ate in a restaurant called Cuvee on Newbury Street Friday evening - great atmosphere and lovely food. We will certainly go there again if we%26#39;re in Boston.

Written up like this it doesn%26#39;t sound like much but we had a great time. Thanks to all on this forum who answered our questions.

Great trip - rotten weather!

Hello Angiem47,

That%26#39;s too bad with the weather being so rainy while you were here! Do you know the sun has been out today for the first time in days. It was out yesterday as well, but not as much as today. That%26#39;s too bad!

So glad to hear that you had a really good time while you were here though! Isn%26#39;t that clam chowder just wonderful at Legal%26#39;s!

Well, may be when you come back to Boston again you%26#39;ll have sunny skies and warm weather to really go back home then and say ';We had the most beautiful time with the best weather!';

Try to remember the Jeweler%26#39;s Building in downtown Boston at 300 and 333 Washington St., the next time you visit Boston, look for any of these 4 jewelers and you won%26#39;t go wrong. DePrisco Jeweler%26#39;s as well as Barmakian Bros., DeScenza%26#39;s or Ganns (they%26#39;re my favorites!) You%26#39;ll see there names on the marquee in the lobby of the Jeweler%26#39;s Building across from Marshall%26#39;s in downtown Boston. There%26#39;s 300 and 333 Washington St., entrances, when you look up at the 2nd floor and above you%26#39;ll see the sign for Jewelers Building of Boston.

Sorry to hear you weren%26#39;t feeling too well while you were here. That%26#39;s too bad, there%26#39;s nothing worse than being sick when you%26#39;re away and not in your own home! Hope you%26#39;re feeling better now that you%26#39;re home and the jet lag hopefully is gone!

Great trip - rotten weather!

Angie---So sorry to hear that you had bad weather for your trip. Until those torrential rains, the Northeast was having a drought. Talk about feast or famine! I know what it%26#39;s like to be sick on vacation--it%26#39;s no fun! Hope you%26#39;re feeling better now. It does sound like you made the most of your trip.

Thanks for your good wishes - yes, I%26#39;m now in good health again. The jet lag hasn%26#39;t been much of an issue so far - I did a full day at work today with no problem. While we were away we kept as near to UK time as we could - ate early evening and went to bed early, getting up early as well. It was just the two of us so it was easy to do it that way and it worked for us. We had a day time flight (left Boston 9am Saturday) and decided we wouldn%26#39;t sleep on the flight which was a good move. By 10pm (UK time, 5pm Boston time) I was falling asleep on my feet!! In fact it was gone midnight before we went to bed because we needed to eat (airline food isn%26#39;t that filling!) and I went straight to sleep. Mind you, we did sleep until after midday Sunday. Anyway, we seem to have beaten the jet lag - phew!

Glad you%26#39;ve had some sun over there - just wish we%26#39;d seen it as well!!
