I want to visit Boston in Nov. with my family, to see the Star Wars Exhibit at the Boston Museum of Science. I am looking for a suite hotel such as Country Inn %26amp; Suites, or Residence Inn by Marriott. They are all hovering around $350 the closer you get to the heart of the city. I did find a Country Inn %26amp; Suites located in Brockton, MASS. But I am worried that traffic will stretch what is supposedly a 20-mile trip into an hour%26#39;s excursion to get to the heart of the city.
Any advice? I usually get a one-bedroom suite so my small children can sleep in the bedroom, I can shut the door (which NOT every hotel that advertises SUITES has a door that shuts, such as AmeriSuites), and I pull out a sofa-sleeper. I don%26#39;t care about kitchens or stuff like that, it%26#39;s actually the door I want most.
Is Brockton do-able? Is it too far, or too much in line with commuter traffic?
Suite hotels for around $100, %26amp; is Brockton close enough?Brockton is way too far...20 miles can translate easily to over an hour, and not a nice drive.and there is nothing to do nearby...
I would say 100 is too cheap to find a suites hotel..but look online in Somerville or even near the airport in East Boston which would be a much easier commute..
Good luck. DKEL
Suite hotels for around $100, %26amp; is Brockton close enough?Hi,
There are a bunch of Doubletree Suite hotels around Boston. I%26#39;ve checked their website for mid November, and the rates range from $138-$200/night.
There%26#39;s one in Dorchester, near the JFK Museum for $169/night, and there%26#39;s one in Waltham for $138/night. The Dorchester location is good, because it%26#39;s close to downtown Boston, and it%26#39;s near the Red Line T, so you can leave the car if you want. The Waltham location would be closer than Brockton, and also it%26#39;s near public transportation (the Riverside Green Line), if you wanted to drive and park and take the Green Line:

I do not recommend staying in Brockton. You%26#39;ll lose valuable time commuting to the sights and I am not as confident as to the area%26#39;s safety.
DON%26#39;T BE SCAAARRRED !!! don%26#39;t be scared to come to my city
You mentioned the AmeriSuites; if you can deal with their room layout, then they have one conviently located in Medford, 5 minutes drive north of Boston.....should be able to get a romm starting around $150 a night.
