Sheraton Boston

Hi, i will be staying at the Sheraton Boston Hotel (Prudential Center, 39 Dalton Street Boston). What is the closest T-station and how close is it?

And what is the easiest way to reach downtown Boston (quincy-market area). Can this be easily done by foot or you need to catch a tube/bus for that?

As they say in the airlines, ';Your closest exit may be behind you.'; Dalton Street is sandwiched in between the Prudential buildings and the Berklee College of Music.

Behind you on Huntington Avenue is the Prudential T stop, right in front of the Colonade Hotel. This is on the E Line.

Probably about 2 blocks away. Not terribly convenient as Huntington Ave. is always a traffic madhouse.

Instead, walk up Scotia Street to Mass Ave. and use the Hynes/ICA T stop. (Auditorium, before somebody got cute) Trains on the B,C, and D lines stop here.I%26#39;d say it%26#39;s less than a block to that station.

The easiest way to get to Quincy Market is to hop on the T at Hynes/ICA going INBOUND and get off at Government Center. When you leave the station, you%26#39;ll be at Boston City Hall. Walk towards the building - but you%26#39;re really going to walk behind it - and then down the brick stairs and across Congress Street. Voila, there you are!

You can certainly walk from the Sheraton to Quincy Market.It would give you time to stroll along Newbury Street, take in the Public Garden and the Common,both of which are usually filled with people coming and going. It would take you about 45 minutes, at a reasonable gait.If the weather is poor, though, take the train.

it%26#39;s an easy, enjoyable walk, with lots to look at; I wouldn%26#39;t avoid strolling down Boylston/Newbury Sts, thru the Public Garden and Boston Common, and then down Washington/Tremont Sts just to get to Quincy Market, unless the weather stinks or you really need to get there in a hurry.

isnt there also a T-station called Copeley and would I be wrong to think that Copley square is near Dalton street?

There is a station called Copley, but it is much further from you than you think. The Hynes/ICA stop is closer to you. It%26#39;s a good four blocks walk from the Sheraton to Copley Square. As an option you could walk to Copley after perusing the shops at Prudential, perhaps a quick jaunt through the Boston Public Library (its older meeting/reading rooms are beautiful architecturally) and then hop on at Copley to get downtown.

The original name for the green line stop was Auditorium. Hynes Auditorium, adjacent to the Pru, was the primary convention center in MA, but it was too small. The name was changed some time ago, 5-10-15 years?? to Hynes/ICA. ICA is the Institute of Contemporary Art across the street from the Hynes. The Hynes is no longer a primary convention site. It only does much smaller types of events, if anything right now.......

The Sheraton Boston Hotel is going to be a really great location for you!

The Hynes/ICA ';T'; stop as was noted here used to be called by the ';T'; The Auditorium station.

Boston renovated and built this Hynes Convention Center probably about 15 years ago it was completed. The reason I remember it is because I worked at the Official Banquet for the ';grand opening'; of this Convention Center. It was quite an elaborate affair! I remember it very well because I had about 4 tables to get to across the whole length of this particular ballroom it was held in and if you can picture a football field then imagine trying to get through to the other side of this enormous room and walking there with a huge tray and also picture yourself walking through and around all these round tables! It was wild!

In any case...In Boston, the politicians decided to honor a former Mayor of Boston John B. Hynes is who they picked. He was the Mayor of Boston from 1950 to 1960. If you go to www.ikipedia.org you can read all about his life and then you%26#39;ll see why he was chosen!

Closest ';T'; station is Prudential on the Green Line - E train. It%26#39;s just steps away from the Sheraton.

Quincy Market is about a 25 min. walk from the Sheraton or you can take the T from Prudetial station inbound and get off at Government Center.

And before it was ';Auditorium'; it was---what? My husband and I can%26#39;t remember what the name was! I do remember that the ';Prudential'; stop on the E line was once called ';Mechanics'; because Mechanics Hall was there.
