Curious as to why you suggest the other Marriott%26#39;s.Not as nice in Peabody, or will it then just be easier for us to be able to do some stuff in Boston as well? We will have a car, but the train sounds better. Is it better to stay in the other areas as far as the train goes?
BeantownMan, why not Peabody?Hi,
The Marriott in Peabody is perfectly nice. But, I made the assumption that you wanted to tour in Boston too, not just in Salem. Most people coming to the area would prefer to stay in Downtown Boston than in the suburbs, unless there is a compelling reason, such as room costs, or specific travel needs.
I figured it%26#39;s just as convenient for you to stay downtown and take the train to Salem, since it%26#39;s a good schedule, and the station is near everything once you get there. Driving from Peabody to downtown Boston can be a royal pain, and you could take the train downtown, but that didn%26#39;t seem to make sense, when you could do it the other way round. If there were a Marriott in downtown Salem, maybe I%26#39;d think differently. But, you are still going to have to drive somewhere anyhow, if you stay in Peabody.
Hope that answers the question. Have fun!
BeantownMan, why not Peabody? Thanks!! I would probably do something in Boston too. Everything you%26#39;ve given me has been helpful. We will be going around Nov. 10.
check out mbta.com and look for the commuter rail schedule. there is a train that leaves north station that goes to salem; newburyport/rockport line. one way fare is $4.50. when you get off train in salem, go up the stairs, cross the street and you are in the thick of it. everything within walking distance.
make a reservation in boston. so much to see and do; salem is a day trip. the peabody marriott is in the middle of an office park off a major highway. nothing around. driving in and around boston is a nightmare. drive to boston, pahk your cah and use public transportation. we call it the ';T'; here. you pick up the commuter rail at north station in boston.
