Anyone been to or have any information on events at the Roof Top Ballroom at the Omni Parker House Hotel for a wedding reception?
Wedding Reception Location QuestionI attended a Christmas party there a couple of years ago. The set up was quite lovely and the food was pretty good. You certainly can%26#39;t go wrong with the view! If I recall, the decor felt slightly Louis the something - pale walls and gold filigree around the windows which are floor to ceiling.
Ornate but tasteful.
It would be worth a call to the events coordinator to see what the schedule is for booking and what%26#39;s available depending on when the wedding is to be. Many reception sites book out 13 months in advance; this may not apply with the Parker House but it would be worth asking.
Wedding Reception Location QuestionHIWALSH,
About 8 years ago I helped cater an American Express Christmas party at the Roof Top Ballroom. The view was certainly beautiful from this room, there%26#39;s no question about that. The Staff in their kitchen without a doubt know exactly what they%26#39;re doing when serving a large function all the different courses. The food without a doubt was delicious, I know this because we tried it!
The Head Chef at the time that was employed there (may be he%26#39;s not there now!)unfortunately was a complete and total NUT in the kitchen. The reason why I know this is because the guests out on the floor attending this affair kept asking all the caterers if they were all right!
For one thing, he was gay and had a very high pitched annoying, terribly loud voice. That%26#39;s not the issue or the point at all here. The problem was, he had an extremely high pitched loud, boisterous, ignorant and absolutely rude way about handling all the events that were run there.
We were all even warned about him before we worked there that night and when these people warned you about some thing or some one it was never that often and they weren%26#39;t kidding with this guy! In all my years on this earth and in all the Hotels in Boston that I worked in with that catering service. I never in my life saw anything like it.
I have family members that work in the Parker House that knew of him and warned me about it! Whether he%26#39;s there now or not, since they renovated the Hotel may be they ';renovated their Staff as well!';
I have no idea, but please be leary of anything like that going on. It isn%26#39;t very healthy, professional or very nice for the guests to witness things like that at all, especially dishing out the money you have to for these type of affairs. It was uncalled for and extremely uncomfortable and unprofessional for the guests at this particular affair to hear and see this. It wasn%26#39;t a very joyous holiday season for them that year, they kept saying to us because of him!
If you get the chance? Go to this site, it%26#39;s on the 36th floor at 100 Federal St., right in the Financial District. They have Private Events such as weddings and it%26#39;s absolutely beautiful, you%26#39;ll be surprised when you see it. I attended a function here before and couldn%26#39;t believe the food and the room it was held in. It was without a doubt, incredibly elegant and the food was exquisite. Go to
www.bostoncollegeclub.com
Call Dawn Bacchiochi at 617 951-0975 and ask her about the ';waiting list'; to join the club so you can have a function here. It%26#39;s a 3 to 6 month waiting list from what I understand and if you go online to this site you can see this stunning ';room with a view'; it%26#39;s held in.
Also check the site www.mybostonwedding.com for different ideas!
Good luck!
I went to a wedding reception there about 12 years ago. It was very elgant and a wonderful time was had by all. The views of the city at night were great. I don%26#39;t recall anyone having complaints about caterers, cooks or anything else.
For purposes of comparison, try The State Room (formerly the Bay Tower Room) on top of 60 State Street.

I hope whomever is the company in charge of the State Room is better than when it was the Bay Tower Room. I coordinated a Christmas party there a number of years ago and was sadly disappointed. And I don%26#39;t think that had a lot to do with our budget. The waitstaff was lackluster and the food mediocre. The Parker House was much better. Just my opinion.. your mileage may vary.

Hi Edgers,
I had dinner one night at the Bay Tower Room right when they were about to change hands and from what I%26#39;m hearing you%26#39;re right because it%26#39;s MUCH MUCH better than it was before with these group of people revamping it all up!
