boston for new yrs..pls help!!

We were in Boston for New Year%26#39;s Eve two years ago. I can tell you that there%26#39;s a lot to do: ice sculptures, a parade, and fireworks over the Boston Common at around 9:30 P.M. If you%26#39;re planning on eating at a specific restaurant, make reservations. Most places are very crowded. The noise and celebration do not cease until around 4:00 A.M. and it may still be a little busy until daybreak. Dress warm and expect to do a lot of walking. Enjoy!

DANA: what hotels are near the boston common??

how far is the sheraton and hilton (back bay) from that point?

also the omni??

thanks!!

The Omni Parker House and the Tremont House are reasonably priced hotels and are both in the area of the Boston Common. They are also centralized, as far as walking distance goes, to the Back Bay, Newbury Street, Quincy Market, and the North End. In the cold of January, that%26#39;s definitely a benefit.

The Common is very centrally located, and Boston is such a relatively small city that not much is very far from it, including most hotels.

Hotels actually closest to the Common would include the Parker House, Nine Zero, both Ritzs (there is a new one on Avery St., as well as the old one on Arlington St.), the Four Seasons, the Radisson and the Park Plaza. There are quite a few more if you%26#39;re not fazed by a 2-3 block stroll. Actually, I%26#39;d be hard pressed to name a decent hotel in Boston that would be so far from First Night activities as too warrant an ';inconvenient'; designation. However, you may want to stay away from hotels which on their websites highlight their proximity to hospitals, as those tend to be a bit further ';afield';.
