sheraton back bay vs hilton back bay....??

I am planning on staying at either the sheraton back bay or the hilton. they both are close in price, but the hilton is only a few dollars cheaper. which hotel would you suggest??

my boyfriend and i are only going for a weekend (for new yrs). we are not business people and we are just going for a little getaway. we are in our mid 20s. (hopefully that info will help!!)

also if we are arriving from logan airport late in the night, which kind of transportation should we use? the subways or a cab? i dont mind taking a cab but i dont know if the airport is too far from the hotels and i dont feel like spending alot of money on a cab ride.

thanks and cant wait to hear your responses!!!

If you are going to be there for New Year%26#39;s, as it states in your other post, I would consider a more centralized location like The Omni Parker House or The Tremont House (Wyndham). Both hotels would cut down on a ton of walking and you%26#39;re much closer to the action.

Here%26#39;s a first night website that may help:

I would suggest the Hilton. It is in an excellent location (so is the Sheraton) and is a very nice, clean hotel. The staff members are friendly and many of the rooms are spacious and have excellent views of Boston. I have heard a lot of positive comments regarding this hotel and I believe it is a good value. Also, it is much newer(1982)than the Sheraton, which was built in 1965. FYI-the hotel is approximately 3.5 miles from the airport, so expect about a 15 minute ride from the airport to the hotel. I hope that you enjoy your stay and please feel free to ask any other questions that you may have.

I think that either hotel will be just fine. I think the differences between them are very minor. Also, they are right across the street from each other, so the location is the same.

As for getting from Logan, it depends on your budget. For $1.50 each, you could take the free shuttle bus from your terminal to the Blue Line, then switch to the Green Line at Government Center and take that to Hynes/ICA stop, which is about a block from both hotels.

For $30 (with tip), you can take a cab. The cab is obviously faster and easier, especially if you have luggage. It also depends on how late you will be arriving. The T stops running at midnight.

You might want to consider checking out the Omni Parker House hotel. It%26#39;s a very nice, historic hotel, right in the middle of everything. It%26#39;s also only a block from Government Center station, so it%26#39;s a bit closer to get to from the airport.

Even better from the airport, is the Long Wharf Marriott. It%26#39;s a nice hotel, on the waterfront, in a great location near Quincy Market and the North End. And, the blue line Aquarium stop is next door, so it%26#39;s really easy to get there from Logan.

I wholeheartedly agree with Beantownman. While the original part of the Sheraton is older than the Hilton, it has since been renovated and expanded. The Sheraton is attached by pedestrian walkways to many, many shops and restaurants in the Prudential and Copley Place malls. While I avoid malls, myself, it is a consideration when the weather has a good chance of being bitterly cold. (Of course, there is an equal chance it%26#39;ll be perfectly balmy... gotta love Boston%26#39;s weather!) You can also access both the Green and Orange lines of the subway system without going outdoors.

Having stated all that, the Hilton is just across the street from the Sheraton.

As far as transportation from Logan... I%26#39;d opt for the subway myself, but if you%26#39;re not travelling light, be advised that there are many subway stations that do not have elevators or escalators, and dragging luggage through slush and snow can be a real pain in the butt... even if it%26#39;s only for a block or two.

You could also check with your hotel to see what ';airporter limousines'; they might recommend, as a compromise between public and private transport.

What nobody has mentioned is that the Sheraton is connected to the Prudential Center. The Hilton is across the street and you have to go outside to get to the Pru.

I would pick the Hilton but that%26#39;s only because I have a bunch of HHonors points.

Take a taxi from the airport. It%26#39;s only about $20.
