Veteran's Day Closings

I was just wondering if anything aside from banks and federal buildings will be closed for Veteran%26#39;s Day. Are all the historic sites still open? I know there%26#39;s a parade on Friday but not sure if anything else will be impacted. Also, are retail stores open on Sunday%26#39;s? Trying to plan what we%26#39;ll do when.

Veteran's Day Closings

Taletimes, that is a great question! I had just assumed that everything would be open this weekend.

What parade on Friday? Should we steer clear of Boston and visit an outside attraction?

We are visiting for the first time and will be squeezing in a lot of activity in 3 days.

We have thought of the museum and the Sam Adams Brewery Tour. I am just finishing up the rest of our plans.

I cannot 100% confirm open/close for a particular attraction you are interested in for Veteran%26#39;s Day, but I would bet that most everything IS open. Veteran%26#39;s Day is pretty much a white collar and federal employee holiday. All stores will be open on Veteran%26#39;s Day, and all stores are open on Sundays.

FYI: a quick check of the JFK library website shows they are open daily, except Thanksgiving/XMAS/New Year%26#39;s.

Museum of Science is open daily, except for Thanksgiving/XMAS.

Museum of Fine Arts is open daily, except Thanksgiving/XMAS/New Year%26#39;s/Patriots Day (3rd Mon. of April)/July 4th

Thanksgiving and XMAS are pretty much the only days that retail stores close. This is typical of most attractions around Boston, as well, with minor exceptions. The big summer holidays and the minor holidays in winter/fall are pretty much business as usual.

Thanks for your reponse, Powie.

Cat50....I believe there%26#39;s a Veteran%26#39;s Day Parade on Friday. I don%26#39;t remember what streets are affected but the event site for Boston should tell us that. As long as you%26#39;re walking, it shouldn%26#39;t be a problem. Enjoy your trip. I used to visit Boston quite a bit but haven%26#39;t been there in about ten years. Looking forward to it. You%26#39;ll love this city. It%26#39;s a great place.

Thanks Powie for all the info! We are doing some of the museums too.

And Taletimes, yes, we are walking so the parade won%26#39;t affect us. 10 years is a long time. Wonder if things will seem changed to you? Have a great time and it looks like the weather is going to be kind too!
