Chatham off season

My wife and I are going to Chatham for a long weekend in early November. I%26#39;ve been researching what to do and many attractions and activites are closed for the season. We are staying at the Wequassett Inn. Any suggestions?

Chatham off season

Good morning tubeye,

You%26#39;re going to really like the Wequassett Inn, it%26#39;s really pretty!

Every other Wednesday in the off-season the Chatham Light Tours is a really fun thing to do.

You could ferry to Nantucket one of the days? That%26#39;s always really fun to do. There%26#39;s a boat that leaves right from Harwichport and parking is free there. It would be easier than driving all the way down to Hyannis for the Hyline Ferry.

Check out the JFK Hyannis Museum if you can

it%26#39;s well worth it, I%26#39;ve seen it a few times...

www.jfkhyannismuseum.org

397 Main St.

Old Town Hall

Hyannis, MA

It%26#39;s got 80 photographs from 1934 to 1963, I really loved this museum, the way it was set up!

I%26#39;m wondering if the Cape Cod Railroad would be open? We did that one time and thought it was fun off season, it%26#39;s a 2 hour little trip, you could look in to that? It%26#39;s located in Hyannis at 252 Main St. you could give them a call? 508 771-3800

The Museum of Natural History is neat...

508 896-3867 they%26#39;re open Oct 1st to March 31st Wed-Sun 11-3

Check the Cape Cod Maritime Museum at 135 SOuth St., Hyannis they%26#39;re having an exhibit starting Oct. 27th called ';For Those In Peril On The Sea'; Tues - Thurs 11-4PM give the museum a call and see about that? 508 775-1723

You really should check out Chatham Bars Inn in Chatham while you%26#39;re staying at your place! It%26#39;s not that far from it, it%26#39;s something you really have to see, you can stroll through it and/or have lunch it%26#39;s so so pretty!

We always go to the Hyannis Cape Cod Mall and across the way further down we always have to go to ';Home Goods'; in Hyannis when we%26#39;re there look for 1070 Iyannough Rd. it%26#39;s a ';good one!!'; There%26#39;s also a Filene%26#39;s Home Store that%26#39;s pretty good; it%26#39;s across from the Filene%26#39;s Basement in the same Plaza directly across from the Cape Cod Mall where they have a movie theater that%26#39;s really good if it just happens to rain and you%26#39;re really stuck with what and where to go!

A lot of people I know absolutely LOVE Cape Cod during the off season! In fact they like it better then! When they have it all to themselves! I have a relative that%26#39;s in Harwich and a really good friend in Chatham and this is there favorite time of year on Cape Cod!

Have fun!

In Chatham: Drive along the back roads overlooking Pleasant Bay, Oyster Pond and Stage Harbor. Go to the Chatham break and lighthouse and look through the telescopes or bring your binoculars (and camera?). Visit the fish pier on Shore Rd. to watch fishermen unload their catch between 2-4 PM. (Ask inside the fish market if the boats went out that day.) Stroll the interesting shops (the most interesting combination on the entire Cape.) on Main St. which will be open on the weekends. Get a warm chicken potpie or a bumbleberry fruit pie from Marion%26#39;s Pie Shop. See if they are still running the sealwatch trips to catch the antics of the gray and harbor seals. One of the boats is sealwatch.com. Enjoy a rocking chair on the front porch at Chatham Bars Inn and/or endulge in afternoon tea. Of course sample the sophisticated cuisine of Twenty-eight Atlantic at the Wequassett Inn. Chatham information: chathaminfo.com and 800-715-5567 for recorded info as they may have closed this past weekend. Of course you will get lots of recommendations at Wequassett Inn too. Let me know if you need a really good guide book.
