Best clam chowder near Freedom Trail?

I%26#39;ll be walking the Freedom Trail and would like to know of a good place to stop off for chowder. Thanks for your help!

Best clam chowder near Freedom Trail?

Do Not stop at the Union Oyster house - see my post under Poor Service!!!

There are a few small pubs in the Quincy market area or you may want to plug in clam chowder into the TA search function and see what pops up.

Any Boston EXPERTS out there who could help?

Best clam chowder near Freedom Trail?

Durgin Park or the Salty Dog, both in Quincy Market, have excellent chowder.

The Parker House hotel restaurant is very good as well.

Gourmeli%26#39;s chowdah in Marriott Copley is delicious! I have always loved stopping in on a cold winter night after work for a bowl of chowdah and a beer.

Don%26#39;t bother with Legal Seafood%26#39;s their potatoes are never cooked.

You know it%26#39;s funny when I worked in the Financial District the last thing on my mind was the Freedom Trail and the history of our great City and for years and years I went to this particular place on my lunch hour and I%26#39;d get my ';chowda'; to ';go';

with a few rolls! It was at The Parker House/Omni on Tremont Street in downtown Boston and it%26#39;s right along the famous Freedom Trail. You certainly wouldn%26#39;t have a hard time finding THIS hotel, that%26#39;s for sure! Just run in and go to Parker%26#39;s Bar or the Restaurant and get it to go! The reason why I went there too is because two of my relatives worked in there and I%26#39;d go in to see them all the time! I always had them put a Parker House dinner roll in the bag and they always did. They have their ';chowda'; steaming piping hot so by the time I got it back to the office it was JUST wonderful.

Another story about our ';chowda'; ....

Several years ago in a Marketing class I took; one of the study synopsis%26#39; was on Boston%26#39;s famous Clam ';Chowda'; and this particular piece was on ';Legal%26#39;s Clam'; Chowda. Legals Seafood wanted to start selling their chowder to the public and they couldn%26#39;t figure out a good way to do this without spending a fortune on a facility to make and produce this product. Well along came a suggestion from Campbell Soup Company one day. They figured that if Campbell%26#39;s bought the recipe from Legal Seafood they could use the Campbell%26#39;s kitchens and sell and produce Legal%26#39;s clam chowder from the Campbell%26#39;s facility. That%26#39;s what they ended up doing!

So people? To this day? Campbell%26#39;s Clam Chowder is actually Legal Seafood Restaurants that%26#39;s all over Boston, Cambridge and the surrounding towns recipe in those Campbell%26#39;s cans you see on the shelves! And this famous recipe was bought by Campbell Soup Products for over one million dollars.

Now that I no longer have to commute in to Boston for work? My wonderful clam ';chowda'; from Boston/Cambridge is bought right off the shelf at the supermarket. SO that%26#39;s where THIS

Beantown gal gets her clam ';chowda'; from a lot of times!

When it%26#39;s below zero out and we can%26#39;t get out from all the snow? It%26#39;s the best!

BeantownMan - Congratulations on your appointment!!

Thanks, Edgers. Now, if I can only live up to the expectations of my legions of fans...;)

Was just there this past Sunday 9/18. Fanuiel Hall, King Fish by Todd English. I had the grilled calamari, excellent and my partner had the clam chowdah, big bowl, nice creamy consistency and plenty of clams with great flavor.
