My sister, husband, his friend and I will be in Boston for the first time this weekend and trying to finalize some sort of itinerary.
This is what we have so far:
Freedom Trail, Duck Tours, and Faneuil Hall Marketplace for daytime attractions.
Then we want to do a night tour in Salem and thinking of either the Vampire and Ghost Hunt Tour (http://www.spellboundtours.com/vampire.htm) or the Haunted Footsteps Ghost Tour (http://www.salemhistoricaltours.com/hfgt.php). Any opinions on these?
For food- Legal Seafood, Durgin Park or the Salty Dog for Clam Chowdah, and Ginza for sushi.
What about nightlife? We range from 30-33 years old and enjoy a somewhat trendy club with at least a little dance floor. What are some places we should go to?
Any suggestions are welcomed! Thank you!
Boston Sept 30-Oct 3: Need Your Suggestions!
The ROXY @ 279 Tremont St., Boston, to dance without a doubt if that%26#39;s what you want. It%26#39;s still a great place and it%26#39;s convenient to get to, it%26#39;s in the Theater District.
Lucky%26#39;s Bar on Congress St., 50%26#39;s Retro Bar; we went here a few times! It%26#39;s really fun. On Sunday nights they have Sinatra Sundays and there was this guy in there, find out if he%26#39;s still there by calling the bar, he%26#39;s the BEST around, his name is Mark Maher I think his name is. He is sooo good as Sinatra, probably the best I%26#39;ve ever seen! The bar doesn%26#39;t have any sign out front it has like a red glow pouring out of the window. You%26#39;re at the end of Congress St. for this bar so you won%26#39;t know WHERE you are being tourists! Don%26#39;t let it scare you there%26#39;s plenty of parking down through there if you happen to drive! The entrance to this bar is at the corner of Congress and A St. I wasn%26#39;t that keen on going here; but we tried it when it first opened and any time we%26#39;re in Boston now we go there! Check it out if you want. All different music from Thursday to Sunday nights if this guy isn%26#39;t there, great martinis here too by the way!
The other places are Bell in Hand 45-55 Union St., where we used to go after work (the Financial District crew!); the Black Rose 160 State Street, you%26#39;ll see it in Faneuill Hall Marketplace area! It was always a ';good one';. Check out the Comedy Connection in Faneuill Hall if you can get in? It%26#39;s always been a REAL ';good one'; for local comedians!
If you%26#39;re down by North Station? After work we used to always go to the Grand Canal at 57 Canal St., there%26#39;s a band on Friday nights as well as Saturday nights. Try to get a table by the railing. You%26#39;ll see what I mean if you can get in here, it gets crowded a lot of times! The food is unbelievable in here. If you go to Salem, MA by the commuter train? You can always take the train back to North Station and walk right to this Grand Canal on Canal St., across the street from the train station. Check out the ';Boston Beer Works'; at 112 Canal Street too while you%26#39;re at it!
These are just suggestions. I%26#39;m sure other people can fill you in, NO doubt in my mind! I just can tell you where we used to go after work in the FInancial District and that%26#39;s who you%26#39;ll see a lot of in downtown Boston are the office workers still hanging out, trust me! OHHH there%26#39;s one more place that used to be our old stomping ground, it%26#39;s TIA%26#39;s on the waterfront at 200 Atlantic Avenue. I forgot about that place, well look for it, it%26#39;s another ';good one';!
We used to go to the ';Barking Crab'; too, look for that, it was always a fun night out there! Also The Rack at 24 Clinton St., Martini%26#39;s, Pool %26amp; Microbrewski%26#39;s galore....
I%26#39;m sure you won%26#39;t have any trouble! You%26#39;ll be rolling back to the hotels, singing Texan songs mixed in with old Boston/Irish tunes I%26#39;m sure. The thing about Boston though, they%26#39;re strict with last call. There%26#39;s no fooling around, once they close? They aren%26#39;t kidding. Which is a good thing....Have fun!

Hi, Michelle!
You%26#39;ve got a great start there and looks like you%26#39;re getting some good advice on the nightlife. My husband and I have lived here for 5 years - I%26#39;m 31, he%26#39;s 33.
My two cents: skip Durgin Park. It%26#39;s not all it%26#39;s cracked up to be. (ducking to avoid all the flames that are about to come my way for that) And for sushi, I highly, highly recommend Fugyaku in Brookline (Beacon Street). It%26#39;s pricey, but SO worth it.
Have a blast.
Becca
Thank you for the great suggestions! I appreciate it!
Only one thing I would perhaps skip is The Black Rose, at least at night.
In the times I have gone the help has been beyond surly and although they have live music there seems to be this unspoken prohibition on appearing to enjoy oneself - in other words, swaying or toe tapping to the music is frowned upon. I have been admonished not to clap or try to sing along and when I attempted to get an answer to such a silly request all I got was the hairy eyeball and silence. Anyone else have this experience?
Now, strangely enough, it%26#39;s a nice spot for lunch and have had good food there. Go figure!
