I was thinking about staying in Beverly Ma, at the Lakeview Motor Lodge,, There is a train station walking distance,, and online it says only a 30 min ride into Boston,, Just looking for any advise on this area,, Would this be easy to get to from the hwy?
Beverly MaCorrect, the commuter rail is what you%26#39;d be taking to get in to Boston. It%26#39;s the Beverly Depot train station that you%26#39;d want to get to from your Motel. Outbound is the train you%26#39;d want for Salem and it%26#39;s only one train stop away! That would be a good idea. I was just online checking the Hampton Inn%26#39;s for you, but you have a good lodging in Beverly it sounds! With the Hampton Inn there were two locations that I thought were possibilities. The one at Logan at 230 Lee Burbank Hwy, Revere, MA OR the one in Peabody at 59 Newbury St., on Rte 1. BUT the one in Peabody wouldn%26#39;t have a commuter rail or ';T'; right at the door. You might be better off in Beverly. Go online and check the commuter rail schedule, here%26#39;s the website:
mbta.com/footer/…visitorpass
I was looking to see if they had a ';visitor'; pass but it%26#39;s for 6 people or more in your party only I guess. This website will show you the schedule of the trains, remember don%26#39;t get confused with the times! They%26#39;re AM then scroll down for the PM and also be careful because on weekends they have a different schedule all together, there%26#39;s usually less trains running on weekends. I used to take this commuter rail all the time it%26#39;s called the ';Newburyport-Rockport'; Line.
The directions to the Beverly Depot online show it like this:
It%26#39;s I93 NORTH to 128 NORTH to Rte62 WEST to Rte 1A (Rantaul St.) then RIGHT onto Park St. across from the Post Office to the Beverly Depot Station.
There%26#39;s a fantastic restaurant in the train depot! We used to stop there for dinner from North Station on the way home from working all day! It%26#39;s fantastic!
Good luck!
Beverly MaYES INBOUND train to Boston is only about 30 minutes to NORTH STATION!
You couldn%26#39;t have found a better place to stay, you know! I just read the whole website for that Lakeview Motor Lodge, it%26#39;s JUST perfect! Have a great time!
Thanks so much for all your help,,The concert starts at 1930 and it%26#39;s at the north station, so I hope I make the last train out,, thats the only thing I need to worry about, I think. Any other ideas of what I can do while I%26#39;m around Boston,, Whats the museum of science like? I see that they have a star wars theme starting,,, I also seen a website for 5-wits,, Know anything about it? I think I may stay in Freeport ME a night as well,, It%26#39;s close to the kittery,, portland,, and Old orchard Beach,, Anyhow thanks for all your help,, Let me know if you have any other good ideas for location to stay/visit, Thanks
That%26#39;ll be a really good concert! My nephews can%26#39;t wait to go to it too, they%26#39;re taking that commuter rail in from Newburyport. This train is great because it pulls right in to North Station and as you walk in to the complex the entrance to the show for Gwen Stefani is right there! You%26#39;ll see it right as you walk in!
The ';T'; always add extra trains, you%26#39;ll be fine! If the concert is at 7:30? 9 times out of 10 the person singing will be late and you watch, it%26#39;ll start about 8:30 or so! You%26#39;ll be out of there by at least 10:30; guaranteed, it%26#39;s like that all the time for shows there, trust me! They don%26#39;t want to see people panicing on the platforms so they have it down to a science there!
The Museum of Science Star Wars show is going to be great! You can get there right from North Station by taking the ';Green'; line trolley, you%26#39;ll see the signs for these trolley%26#39;s right inside the North Station complex where the show is that you%26#39;re going to!
The North End is a fun place to walk through, you can get there right from North Station as well as walking up to the Quincy Market area which has a lot of neat shops and restaurants! In the North End? They have a ton of fantastic restaurants and pastry shops! I know the owners of Modern Pastry on Salem Street! Check it out, Mike%26#39;s is wonderful too, it%26#39;s right on Hanover St., Have fun!
You%26#39;ll be driving from Canada I see! Well you%26#39;ll be on the I-95S quite a bit as you know. You want to look for EXIT 50 on 95. Merge off it and you%26#39;ll be then on Rte 1S, this is Newbury St and also called the Newburyport Turnpike. The next thing you%26#39;re going to look for is Rte 62 Middleton/Danvers. Turn right onto Maple St. This leads you on to Rte 62/Elliott St. As you%26#39;re driving on this then you%26#39;ll see where you want to merge onto 128 toward Gloucester/Rockport. Take the 1A-N exit 20A toward Hamilton, you%26#39;ll see the sign. Turn right onto Dodge St which is still 1A. Next turn left onto Lakeview Ave and the Motor Lodge is right there, you%26#39;ll see it! To leave the Motor Lodge when you%26#39;re driving back? Just back track to pick up 95N again! It sounds more complicated than it is, it%26#39;s really a piece of cake, I know exactly where that place is! Good luck!
The commuter rail station near the Lakeview Motor Lodge is called ';North Beverly'; station, not Beverly Depot. The train line there is the Newburyport - Boston Line. The trtains run every other hour , in general during the daytime no rush hours. Having a schedule from www.mbta.com website and knowing that the schedules are much different on weekdays as opposed to weekends and holidays are important. The time to travel to North Station in Boston is about 45 minutes to 50 minutes on a average run and up to an hour otherwise. Same for the return trip departing North Station. The last return train departs North Station at 10:40 on weekdays and 10:15 on weekends and holidays. You could drive to Beverly Depot about 2 - 3 miles to take advantgae of more frequent departures and arrivals if you wish to do so. Be aware, that parking near Beverly Depot is difficult as it is restricted on the street for the most part and the main lot is only avaialbe to monthly subscribers. There is another lot nearby on Pleasant Street, (not easy to find), available on a first come first served basis but it may be filled by the time you arrive. North Beverly Station also has a parking lot but it is small and always filled by the very early morning. It is better to walk to and from the Lakeview to the North Beverly Station, Next to the station is an excellent roast beef restaurant called Nick%26#39;s. It is excellent for a quick bite to eat.
Sierra, be sure to keep reading the responses to your other message. I and others have been adding to it also :-)
If you%26#39;re a ';Star Wars'; fanatic you should definitely catch the MOS exhibit. I can see the museum%26#39;s planetarium dome from my office window. They%26#39;ve fixed it up to look like R2D2 LOL!
Be advised that the Green Line trolleys from North Station to the MOS are still NOT back in operation; service has been shut down for over a year while that leg of the line and its stations are reconstructed. There are substitute shuttle buses running, which you catch on the far side of the federal building from North Station.
I wouldn%26#39;t cross the street to see Gwen Stefani, but I hope you have a blast!
The Museum of Science is well worthwhile. In addition to the Stars Wars exhibit and many other excellent exhibits, there is an IMAX theater located in the museum which is an excellent venue.
I%26#39;m still a little bit confused about the train schedule..... it says, for Mon-Fri pm (I%26#39;m going to this concert with Sierra) that the last train departs North Station at 10:40, but the time spot for arrival at North Beverly is blank! Does that mean the train doesn%26#39;t stop there at all that time of night?
